Charity football match to raise money for boy’s life saving treatment

A mother has organised a charity football match to raise money for life saving treatment in Canada for her son.

All the money raised from the event will go towards helping send nine year-old Keir Thompson to Canada for special stem cell treatment.

Three-months-ago Keir was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy and since then his mum Elaine Thompson has been working to get him the best possible treatment.

Ms Thompson, of Courtman Road, said: “When we found out the news my whole world crashed down, that’s the only way I can describe it.

“But we’re not a family that gives up and there is still hope so we are going to do everything we can to raise the money to get him the treatment he needs.”

One team will be a mix of former players from Arsenal football club and celebrities against a squad who have paid for the honour of playing against their football heroes.

The match will take place in the Haringey Borough Football Ground, in White Hart Lane, on Friday October 26, with kick-off at 7:45pm.

Before the match there will also be a family fun evening from 5pm which will include a bouncy castle, raffle and barbeque.

Tickets cost £4 for adults, £2 for children and can be bought at the gate on the evening.
