A life-sized inflatable Stonehenge will grace the grounds of Alexandra Palace Park on Friday.

The bouncy sculpture, called Sacrilege, will be in Haringey for one day only as part of the London 2012 Festival and Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art.

People of all ages are welcome to visit – and jump all over, the massive sculpture for free.

Commented Duncan Wilson, chief executive of Alexandra Palace, said: “Not everyone has ever had the chance to visit Stonehenge - and you certainly can’t play on it.

"By inviting Sacrilege to appear in our Park and thanks to the Mayor’s office and the Arts Council, we are able to create a fun and inspirational day for everyone to enjoy here.”

The unusual sight has been designed by Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller and is travelling to 25 locations across the country as part of the London 2012 Festival.

The London 2012 Festival and Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art are supported by Creative Scotland and Arts Council England.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said: “Jeremy Deller's Sacrilege is a wonderfully witty, quite literal leap into that history and a fantastic example of the irreverence that are hallmarks of our great British humour and our incomparable artists.

“I have no doubt it will be a great hit with Londoners as well as visitors to the capital.”

Sacrilege is open between 10.30am and 6pm on Friday and can be found at Newland Playing Field in Alexandra Palace Park.
