Tattooed dangerous dog left to roam free

A POTENTIALLY dangerous dogs left to roam free has been taken off Haringey's streets.

The pit bull-type dog, which was tattooed on its inner thigh, was found unleashed, posing a serious risk to the public.

It was spotted by Haringey Council's dog warden who scanned it and contacted the Petlog database where owners register their dogs.

But the mobile phone number of its registered keeper, believed to live in Watford, did not exist.

A council spokesman said: "Unsupervised, this kind of dog can be potentially dangerous to anyone who comes into contact with it. We will continue to take action to make sure residents are kept safe by impounding stray dogs."

The dog has is now in the care of the Metropolitan Police Status Dog Unit who are carrying out further investigations to find the dog's registered keeper, and why the dog was roaming the streets with no handler in charge of it.
