A Haringey school could expand its intake after nearly 100 children failed to gain reception places in the borough.
All the schools in the Alexandra, Muswell Hill and Fortis Green wards are already oversubscribed for next year's intake, so Haringey Council is now planning to expand Rhodes Avenue Primary School to a three-form entry.
Last month Haringey received 458 applications for places in reception classes in the west of the borough, for a total of just 360 available places.
This means 98 children risk not going to school in the area and even moving to neighbouring Barnet or Enfield. Last year 47 families did not receive their top three choices of schools for their children.
Now Haringey council has launched a public consultation to expand the Rhodes Avenue Primary School to offer an extra 30 places in each year group, starting in 2011.
Consultation letters have been sent out to neighbouring residents and a series of three public meetings will be held at the Rhodes Avenue school between now and the end fo the consultation in November.
The first meeting will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 14, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and 7pm to 8pm.
