A COMPETITION to find north London's next Alfred Hitchcock is well on its way following the selection of four budding directors who will represent Haringey and Enfield at a London-wide film festival.

The four finalists were whittled down from 50 wannabe film-makers and will now have a chance to make a short film for the London Borough Film Challenge and will see their labour of love screened at the Best of Boroughs, or Bobs.

Representing Enfield is Geoffrey Okol making The Call and Tom Ludlam with his offering Rule No.3 No Proper Nouns.

The Haringey talent is Louise Marie Cooke with First Bite and Rosanne Flynn whose short film is entitled Meconium.

All four are now charged with the task of filming their piece over a 24-hour period. They have each been awarded £2,000 from Enfield and Haringey Councils and Film London.

Zoe Prosser, selection panel member, said: “This is a demanding challenge for our four finalists who are aiming to have their films ready by May 15 next year.

"They came up against stiff competition and endured some in depth interviews and rigorous workshops from the North London Film Partnership panel. We selected these four out of 50 promising applicants and shall celebrate their work next year in Enfield and possibly Haringey."

Apart from the grant money, each film-maker will receive additional support including a support package of script developing, producing and film editing and preferential equipment hire rates.
