A JEWISH primary school has been given the final go-ahead to open in Muswell Hill this September.

Eden Primary, previously known as the Haringey Jewish primary school, has been given Department for Education approval - the fourth free school in London to do so.

A spokesman for the school said its new name was chosen because they were looking for a title that was "genuinely Jewish but at the same time meant something real to the non-Jewish community; a name that conveyed a new beginning, nurturing new life, the birth of knowledge - and that also said something about the importance of nature in our school".

The school's budget, staffing plan, ethos and curriculum have been approved by Education Secretary Michael Gove.

It will open with a reception class in temporary accommodation in September before moving to a site near Fortismere School.
