Golders Green charitable charity gives something back this Mitzvah Day
SERVICE users at a Jewish mental health charity in Golders Green served a meal to the homeless last week.
On Thursday, November 17, staff and six service recipients from the Jewish Association for Mental Illness prepared a meal of lentil soup, pasta bake and apple crumble for homeless shelter, Doorstep.
The meal was an early mark to Mitzvah Day, the annual Jewish good deed day.
The charity's day service manager Avril Cohen said: "As a charity, it was wonderful to be able to help other people in need.
"JAMI’s service users are so grateful to the local and wider community for all the help they receive over the year, that they felt they wanted to give something back in return. Mitzvah Day seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so.”
Service user Sophia Levi said: "Going down to Doorstep really opened my perspective into other peoples needs, it’s always good to take yourself out of your box and help others whose needs are different but just as important."
