A Championship footballer saved the day when a fan who was travelling to a football game with her son realised she had lost their tickets and tweeted for help.

Mother-of-three Lynda Coyle, from West Bridgford, Nottingham, realised she had lost the tickets while en route to watch Nottingham Forest's away game against Huddersfield.

Mrs Coyle decided to tweet several Forest players asking for their help.

She tweeted: "Can I have a RT pls I am on route to Huddersfield with my son and lost our tickets #needcheeringup."

But she got more than a retweet when Nottingham Forest striker Dexter Blackstock responded, saying: "I'll leave 2 in your name at the ground #enjoy."

Mrs Coyle, an avid Forest fan who travels around the country to follow her club, replied: "That is an amazing offer and we would love the tickets. How do I pick them up? #gooddeedacceptef."

Following the game, she tweeted the player to thank him for the gesture.

Her son, Thomas Lewis Coyle, also tweeted the footballer: "Thank you so much for the tickets it won't be forgotten #savedtheday #dexthehero."
