A dicey spell of form saw the Robins slip towards the bottom of the table, and by the end of January were well and truly in a spot of bother.
But they climbed off the bottom of the table with a superb run of form that saw Gary Bowyer and his men lose just three of their last 16 games.
Then came the real turnaround, as the Robins took 250 supporters on a free coach trip to watch their team take on Gravesend.
They treated their stalwarts to a stunning 5-0 victory, in which Richard Newbery bagged a hat-trick against his former club.
Needing a win from their last two games of the season, they slipped up 2-0 in their penultimate game at Hendon, which meant a do or die encounter with Aldershot on the final day.
Manager Gary Bowyer at the time said that he didn't want it to come down to the final day, but he need not have worried - Robins came away with a deserved 3-0 win over the North Hampshire club.
That sent Aylesbury down, who beat Gravesend 4-1 but as Bowyer celebrated the Buckinghamshire side went down.
Carshalton are looking for a main sponsor for next season. Any interested parties contact the club on 020 8642 8658.
