Proposals for partnership to run Finsbury Park agreed by council
5:35pm Thursday 15th November 2012 in News By Bruce Thain
Proposals to let sport clubs run facilitates at a park were agreed by Haringey Borough Council.
The council cabinet agreed at a meeting this week to move forward with proposals to lease Finsbury Park to the Finsbury Park Sports Partnership.
The partnership is made up of four clubs which use the park and under the plans the group would manage the facilities in the park including a running track, gym and tennis courts.
It would also be responsible for the improvement of the running track and refurbish and improve facilities which include tennis pavilion, tennis court floodlighting and pathway lighting.
The authority is set to consider leasing the park if certain criteria is met by the partnership such as getting charity status, securing £1.3million of funding for the improvements and gaining planning permission.
It is hoped under the proposed agreement the council will save £27,000 a year for the first three years and then £50,000 a year after.
