Pupils in Tottenham learned about the work of Parliament on Friday when a Labour peer visited their school.
Lord Mitchell delivered an hour-long presentation to secondary school students at Wisdom School in Philip Lane as part of a programme to encourage students to engage with politics.
The Labour politician discussed the work and role of the House of Lords and spoke to young people in a question and answer session.
Headteacher Ramazan Guveli said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to interact with someone who knows the parliamentary system inside out, as it can sometimes seem far removed from their daily lives.”
The visit was part of the Peers in Schools programme which has seen more than 1,000 peers visit UK schools since the project was set up in 2007.
