Students in the borough have beaten the national average when it comes to A-level results.

Haringey pupils easily outstripped the national average percentage of students gaining A* to C grades, with 81.8 percent of those collecting results scoring the top grades, compared to 76.5 percent nationally.

Students in Haringey were also more likely to score A* to B grades, with 55.3 percent doing so compared to a national rate of 52.4 percent.

Patrick Cozier, Highgate Wood headteacher and chairman of the Haringey secondary heads forum, said: “We’re delighted that so many Haringey students performed well. These results will surely stand them in good stead for their next adventures, be that in education or employment."

He added: “We work really hard in often challenging circumstances and our students consistently do well, as this year’s A-level results show.”

Councillor Ann Waters, cabinet member for children and families, said the “fantastic” results were “testament to the hard work and dedication of the borough’s many talented students, teachers and support staff.”

She said: “It was a heart-warming to meet so many young people in the borough on Thursday as they collected their results. We should be proud of their achievements and I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours.”
