A 40-year-old man shot dead by police earlier this month is from Tottenham, a police watchdog has said.
Dean Joseph, from Northumberland Park, was shot in the early hours of September 5 in Shepperton Road, Islington.
Witness statements gathered by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) allege that Mr Joseph was holding a woman at knifepoint.
The IPCC say that Mr Joseph knew the woman, but that the exact relationship between the two has not yet been established.
Mr Joseph was formally identified by his family on Friday at Poplar mortuary.
A post-mortem examination found he died as a result of shock and haemorrhage caused by a gunshot wound.
The IPCC are continuing to investigate the shooting.
