CCTV footage of a robbery in which a woman was forced to open a safe before being tied up with duct tape has been released.

The incident took place at 9am on Monday, April 7 at an internet cafe and money exchange in Tottenham High Road.

A female staff member had opened for the day and let her first customer in when two robbers entered.

One made his way to the back of the shop to check the back exit route while the second waited by the door.

The first man then returned, grabbed the woman by her wrists and forced her into a back room where the safe is kept.

He then threatened her until she opened the safe and the contents, which included cash in various currencies, which he then emptied into a black sports bag.

The second man was called to the room and produced some duct tape from his pocket before tying the woman up, binding her hands and feet.

Both men were carrying newspapers when they entered the store and picked them up before fleeing the scene.

Both suspects fled on foot through the back door, into a market and over a gated area into Suffield Road.

The first man is described as a black male, six ft tall and of slim build. He was wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up and matching tracksuit bottoms, with a cream or white stripe down the outside arm and leg.

He was also wearing black trainers with a white sole and an orange fluorescent tabard, and was holding a black and yellow ‘JD’ Sports back with a string pull.

The second man is also described as a black male, 5ft 9inches tall, of slim build and with a goatee beared. He wore a light coloured long sleeve top, grey tracksuit bottoms, an orange fluorescent tabard, and a black beanie hat.

Detective Constable Johnny Baker of the Met’s Flying Squad, said: "These two men used threats and intimidation to coerce the victim to open the safe. Although the victim was not injured during this robbery, she has been extremely traumatised by this ordeal.

"I would appeal to anyone who recognises these two men to come forward and speak to police."

No arrests have been made.
