A BBC documentary has claimed that deleted documents led to education watchdog Ofsted escaping blame for the Baby P scandal.
17 month-year-old Peter Connelly, known as Baby P, died in 2007 after suffering serious abuse, despite repeated visits from social workers and health professionals.
An anonymous Ofsted inspector told Baby P: The Untold Story that he felt there was a “cover-up” within the organisation after assessment reports on the shortcomings Haringey’s children’s services department “disappeared”.
He said: "I don't know who made the decision to delete those files. But if you remove that information you remove your accountability. I felt that was a cover up.
"I think there were senior people within Ofsted who have never been held accountable for Ofsted's behaviour around the Baby P case”.
A spokesman for Ofsted said the body had "always been entirely open" with its assessment reports on Haringey.
