Haringey is among the top six UK authorities for the quality of its secondary schools, a new report shows.

Ofsted’s 2014 Annual Report shows that 100 per cent of the borough’s secondary schools are now rated as either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Haringey joins Islington, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Housnlow, and Rutland at the top of the table.

The borough’s primary schools do less well, with 86 per cent rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’.

Top-rated is Camden with 98 per cent, and bottom are six authorities, including Oxfordshire and Hillingdon, who score 81 per cent.

Councillor Ann Waters, cabinet member for children and families, said: “It’s a source of immense pride that both the Department for Education and Ofsted have this week released reports showing that the performance of Haringey’s schools is among the very best in the country.

“Haringey’s reputation as a home to excellent education is hard-won and well-deserved and I’m confident that with the wealth of talent we have in the borough we will continue to make improvements and see standards rise even further.”
