Cup final songs have declined since their 1980s heyday but one group of Tottenham Hotspur fans is changing all that for charity.

Ledley and The Kings have re-recorded the Chas ‘n’ Dave favourite Hot Shot Tottenham, originally recorded for the 1987 FA Cup final, for this year’s Capitol One Cup final against London rivals Chelsea.

The new tune, which has lyrics updated for 2015, has been released to raise money for the Tottenham Tribute Trust, a registered charity founded in 2002 to help people connected with the club who have fallen on hard times.

One of the Kings, Darryl Taylor, said: "We've been delighted with how the track has been received and we're so thankful for everyone that has bought it so far.

"It is amazing that something that we started out doing for a laugh in a pub in December has ended up becoming the club's official cup song and has entered the UK official charts.

"The Tottenham Tribute Trust is a fantastic charity that raises money for former players and staff of Spurs that have fallen on hard times.

"We think that it is important to support the TTT as without the hard work of these individuals, we probably would not be going to Wembley at the weekend."

The song is currently 31 in the iTunes pop chart and all the cash raised from downloads of the single will go to the trust, which has provided support to a number former players in need of help, including FA Cup hero Paul Gascoigne.

Ledley and The Kings have been enjoying plenty of support for their efforts, being backed by the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust and gaining 800 followers on Twitter.
