Young people have been volunteering as part of a Princes Trust initiative to help them gain skills and experience.
The programme is being run in conjunction with the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, using Tottenham Police station as a base and liaising with officers to help the 16 to 25-year-olds organise and undertake a variety of volunteer opportunities.
The station is the first to be selected to work with the trust in this way and the aim is to inspire young minds and improve long-term career prospects of the participants.
Detective Kay Sekyere said: “This is an excellent programme that has a positive effect on anyone who takes part.
“The young people have improved and developed a lot, the programme helps to bring out qualities that they already have and strengthens them on a personal level.”
The programme, open to people out of work, started back in February and is currently on week seven of a 12 week programme.
