A kickstarter campaign has just two weeks left to bring a healthy fast food social enterprise to life.

Chicken Town aims to be a healthy alternative to chicken shops in Tottenham and will use profits to reinvest in young people in the community.

The initiative, run by Create London, will use alternative cooking methods to create healthy, low fat versions of fast foods enjoyed by young people in the borough, in particular chicken and chips.

The venue would sell chicken meals to young people, school-children in particular, during the day at £2 per meal.

That cost would be subsidised by Chicken Town's trade as a more traditional restaurant in the evening.

The project aims to tackle obesity in the borough - in Tottenham 40 per cent of 11 year-olds are classified as obese - and provide training and employment prospects to young people while paying the London living wage.

Create has secured the initial funding required to build Chicken Town by converting the former fire station in Town Hall Approach Road, Tottenham but need to raise a further £50,000.

A range of rewards are available to people who back the campaign, dependent on the size of their pledge.

These range from a set of Chicken Town recipe cards aimed at children for a pledge of £30, to VIP party experience for anybody who donates £5,000.

So far 290 backers have pledged £17,717, meaning Create London needs to raise a further £32,283 by 6pm on Thursday April 23.
