Friends will spend six days walking from Seven Sisters to its Sussex namesake to raise money for an “incredibly worthwhile” charity.

Charlotte Rixon, of Roslyn Road, and Edwina Pitcher, of Manchester Road, Seven Sisters, hope to raise £1,000 for the London Wildlife Trust.

They will walk from Seven Sisters, in north London, to Seven Sisters, in East Sussex, pitching their tents at campsites along the way.

The freelance writers will start their journey on April 20 at Page Green Common, in Seven Sisters, and expect the 88-mile journey to take six days.

Mrs Rixon, 33, said: “We will be camping along the way. We have plotted the route ourselves and will be walking along lots of old and new routes, including some of Chaucer’s pilgrim routes.

“It’s quite poetic walking from one Seven Sisters to another – there’s a nice symmetry to it.

“We’re both fairly fit, but not super fit, so it will be a challenge to see if it’s possible to walk that far, and if we can navigate our way and not get lost.

“I’m very excited and very nervous as well. The distances are quite big - we wanted to get clear out of London on the first day so we will be walking 23 miles.

“I will have to see whether my legs can take it. We will be passing through a place called Limpsfield on the way - I really hope I won’t be limping to Limpsfield.”

Mrs Rixon met Ms Pitcher, 28, while volunteering for the London Wildlife Trust, which encourages and manages natural habitats in the city.

Mrs Rixon said: "The London Wildlife trust’s work is incredibly worthwhile, 60 percent of Wildlife in the UK is in decline.

“They’re not just about Wildlife – one of their aims is to make it so everyone has a green space 10 minutes from where they live.

"We would like to raise £1,000, we’re almost halfway there. We’d love to raise as much money as possible. Even if people can give just a few pounds, every little bit helps.”
