A north London college has a new man in charge.

The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London has appointed Andy Forbes as principal.

Mr Forbes brings 30 years of experience across a range of educational fields to the role and recently led the Hertfordshire consortium, running three vocational colleges in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He said: “I'm very pleased to be joining such a strong college - financially strong and educationally strong - with news just in of an overall success rate for 2013/14 of 89.2 per cent that puts us at the very top of the league table of London General FE Colleges.

“Students of all ages and at all levels get a really positive experience at CONEL and – most importantly – the great majority pass with flying colours and go on to university, further training or into good jobs.

“I will ensure that the college continues to play a key role not only in education but in supporting economic growth for our local communities.”

The college, which has centres in Tottenham and Enfield, recently spent £20m on its estate and was judged good overall by Ofsted last year and outstanding for leadership and management.
