Erdogan Guzel, was shot dead in Lordship Lane on Friday, July 10 and one woman has been left in a critical condition.

Nine people have been arrested so far including six men and three women and have all be bailed until mid-September.

Paying tribute to the 42-year-old, Detective Chief Inspector Tim Duffield, said: “One of those, 42-year-old Erdogan Guzel was a husband and father of two teenage children. Today, he should have been with his family but his killers have deprived them of that opportunity.

“The other, a 51-year old woman was with her daughter when she was shot and left fighting for her life. Her daughter had to watch as police officers and paramedics fought to save her.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Wood Green.

DCI Duffield added: “Mr Guzel was sitting outside the Kardesler Pastanesi, a bakery he owned, when he was shot. The female victim and her daughter were walking on the same pavement.

“Around the same time a man riding a light coloured mountain bike arrived in the area when the shooting began. I am very keen to identify and speak to him as I believe he could have crucial information that could assist the investigation.

“Also standing on the pavement nearby was a group of around eight to ten men (No further descriptions) Again, I am very keen to speak to these men.

“Efforts continue to establish who the intended target or targets were. I need to eliminate these people and therefore I would appeal to them to come forward and speak to the police. I appreciate they may feel apprehensive but I would like to reassure them that there are measures we can take, if we need to, to protect you.”
