It is easy to coo and aww at photos of cats and kittens – but an animal charity is urging people to have a heart and adopt a feline.

Wood Green, The Animals Charity, based in Lordship Lane, Haringey, is in desperate need for kind-hearted people to welcome a cat into their family.

Centre manager Caroline Johnson says the felines have a purr-sonality of their own, and here they describe why they want to be adopted.

Snooki: “I really enjoy relaxing on my scratching post after a long day playing with my fishing toys, I also like biscuits. I am an independent lady who loves going outside to adventure but I soon let you know when I’m ready for cuddles.”

Ace: “I’m a sweet, gentle boy with lots of love to give. I am pretty laid back here, although I will give a soft cry to let you know that I would like a good fuss and lots of cuddles. I would make the perfect feline family member.”

Bailey: “The staff say that I’m a gorgeous boy! I haven’t been at Wood Green for long so I’m still getting to know everyone, but I love spending quality time with staff and visitors. I enjoy long strokes and head scratches are my favourite! I have a big scratching post which has loads of hiding holes for me to take a sneaky nap in, but I normally come running out as soon as I can smell treats. I would really like to meet my forever family soon.”

Siblings, Sia and Boris: “We like to spend our days playing with our favourite toys and climbing up our scratching post. We haven’t been at Wood Green for long so we can come across shy when you first meet us, but don’t be fooled once we get to know you long strokes is all we need. At the end of the day my favourite thing is to cuddle up and take a nap, chasing toys around all day is tiring after all! Boris is my best friend so it would be nice to be rehomed together. We are really excited to meet you.”

Siblings, Eva and Grace: “We are full of energy and enjoy playing together with our toys for hours on end. When we get tired from all our playing, we also love to snuggle up to the humans for cuddle time.”

Eclipse: “The thing I love best is cuddles. I enjoy treats, playtime and also going outside to explore. I have a really big scratching post which I like. I sit right at the top so I can watch everything going on around me, as soon as the staff come in I jump down and go greet them straight away. The staff always say that I’m such a happy girl as I purr as soon as I see them. I would really like to find my new family soon, I hope they are reading this.”
