Detectives investigating a rape in Brighton are hoping to speak to a man from Haringey.

At about 10.30pm on Sunday, August 23, a man is reported to have forced his way into a flat in Upper Park Place, Brighton, and raped the 38-year-old woman living there.

Sussex Police want to trace and interview Abil Abdullah, 30, from Haringey but who they say has also frequented Brighton.

He is described as black, slim, 5ft 9 tall and ball, and was wearing dark trousers and a white t-shirt with a ā€˜Vā€™ shaped motif on the front.

The woman has since been receiving specialist medical and welfare support and counselling, and support from specially trained detectives.

Detective Inspector Andy Wolstenholme said: "This is a very rare occurrence and it is currently a fast moving investigation. We are keen to find Abdullah as soon as possible. If you have seen him or know where he may be we would like to hear from you as soon as possible.

"Also, if you were in the Queens Park area of Brighton on Sunday night and saw anything suspicious, please contact us via 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call us on 101, in either case quoting Operation Underwood. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
