Liberal Democrat Nigel Scott was announced the winner of the Alexandra by-election last night.
Mr Scott, a governor at Alexandra Park School, was elected as the councillor representing Alexandra ward taking almost half of the 2,927 votes.
He promised residents that he plans to deal with traffic problems in the area and named the development of Alexandra Palace as one of his top priorities.
Coming second was Labour candidate Joanna Christophides who secured 772 votes followed David Douglas, for the Conservatives, came third with 443 votes.
James Patterson, the Green party candidate, won 221 votes. The British National Party candidate, Frederick Halsey, came last with 27 votes.
35 per cent of Alexandra residents turned out to vote.
The by-election was called following the departure of Liberal Democrat councillor Wayne Hoban.
