Muswell Hill school takes science lessons to infinity and beyond

A SPECIALIST science and maths school in Haringey will mark National Science and Engineering Week by weaving the topic of 'space' into all lessons across the curriculum.

Alexandra Park School, in Bidwell Gardens, also one of just 30 space specialists in the country, will incorporate the theme into art and PE where pupils will design paper aeroplanes and learn the secret of a good flight.

The school willl also play host to National School Astronomer Dr Paul Roche and learn about the stars using Europes's largest inflatable planetarium.

Headteacher Michael McKenzie said: "Science is such an exciting subject, but it doesn’t have to be restricted to the science lab.

"During National Science and Engineering Week, we will be giving our students an opportunity to learn more about space and flight in a range of interesting and unusual ways. Hopefully we’ll be inspiring our young people to be the scientists of the future."

National Science and Engineering Week runs from March 12 to 21 and is organised by the British Science Association, but the Muswell Hill school will run its science-themed activities between March 15 and March 25.
