A 12-YEAR-OLD girl has narrowly escaped being abducted on her way to school in Highgate.
As she walked in Shepherds Hill, near the junction with Stanhope Road, on Wednesday, June 16, a car pulled up beside her and a woman tried to entice her into the car.
The girl refused despite several requests from the woman, described as blonde-haired, white, and in her 50s.
A member of the public, a white man, intervened and told the girl to run to safety.
The suspect remained inside the car during the incident and did not threaten force or use it.
Haringey police are investigating the attempted abduction, and are keen to talk to the person who intervened.
Detective Constable Zoe Bentley, leading the investigation, said: "We are very eager to hear from the member of public who intervened and told the girl to run off. He may have information that could prove to be crucial to our investigation."
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Bentley of Haringey CID on 020 8345 0712.
To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
