WITH hundreds of Haringey's school leavers anxiously anticipating A-level results this week a Haringey youth careers service has extended its opening hours.
Haringey Connexions will open longer during the last two weeks of August to offer guidance on work, training and further education opportunities.
Concerns have been rising over a shortage in university places, and Connexions in Wood Green will support young people applying through clearing and offer alternative routes to higher education.
The office will be open longer on results day, Thursday August 19, and Friday August 20.
Personal advisers will also be on hand in schools, as well as Haringey Sixth Form Centre, in White Hart Lane, and the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, in High Road, Tottenham, on the morning and afternoon of results day.
Councillor Lorna Reith (Lab/Tottenham Hale), cabinet member for children and young people's services, said: "Late August is an important time for young people receiving their GCSE and A-level exam results – and wanting advice - adding to the ever-increasing demand for Connexions' invaluable advice and guidance.
"I hope as many young people as possible take advantage of the extra opening hours, to help them make some important decisions which could help to shape their futures."
