A MOTHER from Tottenham will serve two years in jail after allowing her son to keep a shotgun in their home.
Shop assistant Violet Allen, 55, of Hillside Road, admitted to possession of a sawn-off shotgun.
Her 18-year-old son, Tyrone Russell-Allen, admitted the same offence but also confessed to stocking ammunition, cannabis, cocaine and heroin.
The pair were sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court, in Lordship Lane, yesterday.
Russell-Allen will spend up to five years in prison.
The pair were caught by police officers following a tip-off and their house was raided on March 23.
Both defendants were present but the mother confessed to police that there was a sawn-off shotgun, ten unfired bullets and a disassembled handgun.
Police found the defendants, Allen and her son Russell-Allen, present at the address.
Allen directed police to a holdall in her bedroom where they found a sawn-off shotgun, ten unfired bullets and a disassembled handgun.
Officers also found 700g of Cocaine, 2g of Heroin and 10g of Cannabis.
The pair were charged the following day.
Detective Superintendent Paul Hoare said: "We will continue to carry out intelligence-led search warrants to ensure that we take firearms off the streets of Haringey and bring to justice those responsible for using, storing, carrying and distributing them."
