A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested over a fatal fire that broke out in block of flats in Hornsey yesterday.
The suspect was arrested after being treated in hospital following the fire in Alyn Court, in Crescent Road, Hornsey.
He is being held in custody at a north London police station.
When emergency services arrived at the scene of the fire at 4.15pm they found the body of a 57-year-old woman inside a lower ground floor flat.
Residents in neighbouring flats had to be evacuated while firefighters spent nearly two hours extingushing the blaze.
Police are yet to release details of her identity until next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem is due to be held at Tottenham Mortuary on Wednesday, October 27.
The fire is being treated as unexplained, but Haringey CID are investigating.
The fire damaged part of the flat on the lower ground floor where firefighters found the victim's body.
