A BUSINESSWOMAN who has added city glamour to Tottenham by opening an exclusive lounge and cocktail bar is in line for an award.
Barbara Oppon has been named the winner of the New Business Award for recently-opened nightspot Alabar in White Hart Lane.
She will collect her prize at The GL Women in Enterprise Awards, in Shoreditch, on November 17 after impressing judges with her 800-capacity venue complete with VIP rooms and cocktail bar.
The entrepreneur said: "It's an honour to be nominated for such an award like this. Launching the bar has had its challenges but this IS a reminder that it's all worthwhile. I hope Alabar demonstrates that hard work and perseverance pays off regardless of the odds against you."
Other leading women across fields of journalism, PR, television and fashion will also be honoured at the inaugural awards from GL Network, a networking group for professionals, founded by Adwoa Agyemang, a student at the School for Social Enterprise.
