Police will impose a dispersal order near Turnpike Lane Station in a bid to tackle problems with gangs of anti-social youngsters.
The zone – which gives officers the power to move on groups of two or more for 24 hours – will be introduced on Monday for six months after complaints from members of the public about people smoking drugs and intimidating locals.
The area covers Langham Road, part of Carlingford Road, Crescent Road, Graham Road, Langham Place, part of Downhills Park Road and Ivatt Way.
Anyone who returns to the area having been ordered to leave can be arrested and receive a three-month prison sentence and a £2,500 fine.
Sergeant Mike Tisi, of West Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said that officers could use stop-and-search to tackle antisocial behaviour but would use “common sense and discretion”.
