Southgate post office riots burglar from Tottenham jailed for two-and-a-half years
A Tottenham burglar who broke into a Southgate post office during last year’s riots and stole more than £4,000 has been jailed.
Kadri Dauti, 23, of Trulock Road, broke through the back door of the building in Chase Side in the early hours of August 8 and used a crowbar to force open a safe.
When police searched the property, they found £4,367 had been taken and the building had been ransacked, but the crowbar had been left next to the safe.
And after fingerprint DNA found on the tool matched Dauti’s, officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Withern arrested him on November 2 and charged him with burglary.
At Wood Green Crown Court on Wednesday, Dauti was found guilty of burglary and sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison.
