Dawn raids carried out across north London to tackle burglary

A total of 27 people were arrested in a series of dawn raids across north London this morning.

Search warrants were executed at a number of addresses in Haringey as part of raids to tackle burglary in the capital.

The raids were part of Operation Galaxy which was set up in October 2010 to identify and bring to justice burglars operating in Barnet, a number of whom live in neighbouring boroughs including Brent, Camden, Harrow, Enfield, Hackney and Westminster.

At one address in Westminster, officers seized approximately £10,000 in cash.

All of those arrested this morning are currently in custody in various police stations, pending further enquiries.

This is the second time officers have carried out raids for this operation after 85 people were arrested at 52 addresses, which resulted in more than 350 charges in July this year.
