Tottenham park given royal title

Park given royal title Park given royal title

A park was given a royal title at a community festival last week which will protect it from development.

Down Lane Park, in Park View Road, Tottenham, has been named a Queen Elizabeth II field as part of a campaign to protect outdoor spaces and as a legacy of the Diamond Jubilee.

At the festival last Sunday members of the Friends of Down Lane Park and councillors received a cast iron plaque showing the parks status as a QEII site.

Councillor Nilgun Canver said: “I am so pleased the park has won QEII status and I must thank the Friends for all their hard work and dedication in working with the council to make this a fantastic community facility.”

During the last few years the park has had a number of improvements including two new children's playgrounds, a BMX track and an outdoor gym area.
