Gang members sentenced for Wood Green barbers stabbing
Members of a north London Gang have been sentenced today for the stabbing of 15-year-old boy in barbers shop in Wood Green earlier this year.
The five males, aged between 17 and 20, were found guilty sentenced at the Central Criminal Court today for the stabbing of the boy while he was having his hair cut at Kennys Barbers in Lordship Lane.
Jerome Amankwah, 20, of Griffin Road, was sentenced to a total of seven years in a young offenders' institute for wounding with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm, possession of CS spray, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a class B drug.
Jordan Townsend, 18, of The Avenue, was sentenced to seven years in a young offenders' institute for wounding with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a lock knife.
Three 17-year-old boys were also sentenced, with one getting six and a half years in a young offenders' institute wounding with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm and of a class B drug.
Another was given six years in a young offenders' institute also for wounding with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm.
The third was sentenced to four and a half years in a young offenders' institute for wounding with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm.
The court heard how at about 2pm on Tuesday, January 31, the victim was sitting in a barber’s chair having his hair cut when a large group of males from a north London gang walked by and saw him.
Four of the group forced their way into shop while the manager held the door closed to stop the others entering.
Inside the shop they fought with the victim who was stabbed three times in the back before they ran off with the rest of the group.
A member of the public flagged down a passing marked police vehicle of Trojan officers who secured the scene.
Officers then chased down by officers who detained the members of the gang and searched them finding an array of weapons including the knife used in the attack.
