A supermarket in Harringay has installed nearly 650 solar panels on its roof to provide its own electricity.

Sainsbury’s, in Williamson Road, Harringay, has installed 646 solar panels on the roof – providing enough power to make 4,421 cups of tea.

The installation is part of a national programme being carried out by the supermarket chain at its stores across the country.

It is hoped by using the environmentally friendly power source at stores nationwide it will cut an estimated 6,800 tonnes CO2 emissions per year.
