Twelve arrested in Haringey during Operation Hawk

Twelve arrests were made in Haringey last week as part of Operation Hawk, a Metropolitan Police led drug crack down.

Early in the morning of September 20 officers carried out drug and weapon sweeps across the borough which resulted in the seizure of a knife, and large quantities of Class A and B drugs, as well as the 12 arrests.

In Bruce Grove, Tottenham, one person was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, and two vehicles were seized for having no insurance.

Officers searched public spaces in Ducketts Common, The Sandlings and Lordship Lane.

These searches resulted in the seizure of cannabis and an arrest for possession of cannabis, and another on suspicion of criminal damage.

Search warrants were carried out at a number of addresses which resulted in four arrests on suspicion of possession with the intent to supply cannabis, two arrests on suspicion of possession of cannabis, and one arrest on suspicion of importing Class A drugs.

Other arrests in Haringey during Operation Hawk included one on suspicion of possession of a knife and another on suspicion of theft.

The London-wide crack down involved Safer Neighbourhoods officers, Trident, the specialist drugs command, mounted police, the Territorial Support Group, the Marine Policing Unit and volunteer police cadets.

Across the capital, cannabis with a street value of more than £2.6 million was seized, and more than 350 arrests were made by 2,000 officers.

The operation also resulted in the closure of 37 cannabis factories and the seizure of 2,700 cannabis plants.
