A horticultural society which has been running for 100 years faces possible closure warns committee member.
The Muswell Hill & District Horticultural Society this year celebrated its centenary but faces the prospect of closure if new members are not found soon.
Kit Greveson has been a member of the society for more than 25 years and serves on its committee and is worried about the society’s future.
The 63-year-old said: “We have a very proud history and we have been doing so much in the borough for a long time.
“What we need are more committee members to help us organise things. Some of our long term members are leaving soon and we need more help to keep us going.
“It would be so sad if we were forced to stop. We try and do so much for the borough and what we really want to do is get more members to keep us going another 100 years.”
The society will soon be holding its Annual General Meeting where members and the committee will discuss the future of the group.
Those interested in help the society are welcome to go to the meeting which will be held at the North Bank Centre, Pages Lane, Muswell Hill on Saturday October 20 from 2pm.
