Petition launched to save sorting offices
4:10pm Sunday 7th October 2012 in News By Jaber Mohamed
A petition has been launched aiming to prevent the closure of sorting officers serving people in Haringey.
Royal Mail plans to close the office in Tottenham Lane, Hornsey, which serves the N8 area meaning people will have to travel further to collect their undelivered parcels.
There are also plans to move services currently provided at the office, and another in the Harringay Arena off Green Lanes, to an industrial estate on Hornsey Road, Holloway.
Cllr Richard Wilson, Lib Dem Leader and one of the residents who will be affected by the changes, said: “It is outrageous that Royal Mail is expecting Crouch End and Hornsey residents to travel all the way to Holloway to pick up undelivered parcels and registered post.”
Haringey councillors with the MP for Hornsey and Wood Green, Lynne Featherstone plan to launch a petition to save sorting offices ear-marked for closure or due to be moved.
