Pupils get coaching session with Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas
3:50pm Saturday 13th October 2012 in News By Bruce Thain
School pupils were treated to a coaching session with Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Villas-Boas and Tottenham coaching staff lead a football session at Northumberland Park Community School, in Trulock Road on Thursday.
More than 20 pupils at the school took part in the session run by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation giving them the chance to improve their football skills.
Villas-Boas said: “Today was just a small gesture to the huge amount of work the Foundation has been doing for quite some time.
“We hope that we have contributed to the lives of these young people today because, in many cases, their upbringings have been difficult.
“We must continue to break down barriers and create opportunities for people in this community.”
He added: “Sport is important when you are young for your co-ordination and your relationship with others in terms of the respect that you give and receive.
“You can use it to achieve ambitions and we must continue to promote it in the best way we can.
“I think all of them dream of one day being professional footballers, not all of them will make it to the top, but bringing a smile to their face is the most important thing.”
The Foundation has run football coaching at the school for a number of years, using the appeal of the Club to engage young people from the area in sport and positive activities out of school hours.
