I became involved in politics because of Haringey Council's failure to help my neighbours and me when the house next door to ours became a drug den. It convinced me that Labour was incapable of running the borough and that the Lib Dems had people of the calibre needed to turn Haringey around.

After 35 years of Labour neglect, it is time for a change.

Labour has shown no respect for local people, and just throws its weight around.

I have been fighting the council over its terrible plans for Wards Corner. For a year and half I have used my legal knowledge to help the community organisations that tried to stop the development. Labour pushed through the development and wasted huge amounts of NDC money that should have been spent in improving Seven Sisters.

In Haringey we must make sure that our children are properly protected so that tragedies like the Baby P case can never happen again. The Liberal Democrats have been pressing for a full public, so that we learn all the lessons.

We must also provide more jobs in the area. If elected, I will meet immediately with the agencies which are responsible for encouraging businesses. There is enormous potential in the area - the beautifully designed parades of shops in the Seven Sisters Road are just one example - but a lot of hard work is needed to realise this potential after years of neglect.

In order to give the people of Seven Sisters the attention they need a councillor has to be readily available. I will hold three surgeries a month, and I will be on call to any community group or resident that needs me.

In this election, the people of Seven Sisters will have the chance to be represented by a member of the Liberal Democrat team. It is a team which is dedicated to helping the residents of Haringey. We're the only team that can take on Labour, and the only party with any seats on the council.

A vote for me is not a protest vote. It is a vote for real change in Haringey.
