I was shocked to see the Council Tax bills sent out by Haringey this week included a letter dated over 5 weeks ago (17 February).

The Mayor of London’s pledge of £4m for biking boroughs is welcome, but when you spread it over three years and 13 boroughs it averages out as little more than £102,000 per year, per borough.

As the transport watchdog for Haringey, we have campaigned for bus stops in the area to be fully accessible. People in wheelchairs, with pushchairs and with mobility problems need to be able to get on and off buses easily.

As a keen student of the Liberal Democrats for many years, I've been fascinated to watch their transformation from a party that scatters around uncosted promises like so much confetti into the coalition partners of one of the most rightwing Tory governments for decades. I've been looking back at their manifesto for the Haringey elections earlier this year and trying to work out how a Liberal Democrat council might have got on with the Tory/Liberal Democrat coalition now installed in Westminster.

This was the right and necessary decision, however the suspension does raise other aspects.
