Haringey Borough suffer Biggleswade United defeat

Haringey Borough were beaten 2-1 at home to Biggleswade United in the South Midlands Premier Division.

It was their first home match since the middle of December and it started well for the hosts as a fine drive from Andreas Loizou provided the defender with a rare goal after 20 minutes.

The first half was an even contest with Boro’s defence sometimes stretched by the speed and trickery of Biggleswade’s Robbie Freeman down the left.

The second period was a different affair altogether as Biggleswade upped their tempo and Boro failed to heed an early warning when a low shot struck the foot of a post.

It was no surprise when Angus Stewart hooked a fierce blast on the turn past Erbil Bozkurt from the corner of the six yard box in the 59th minute and Biggleswade always looked the more likely winners thereafter.

The decisive goal arrived after 78 minutes, again from Stewart, as he bundled home a free-kick at the far post.

Haringey also lost at the weekend as they went down to a 1-0 defeat at Leverstock Green.

Curt Dizon fired home the winner for the hosts in the first half.

Boro dominated the second period and were unlucky to be denied an equaliser when Tom Coulton tipped over Dean Fenton’s header.

I can't believe they lost to lowly Biggleswade.
