Haringey Borough beaten by London Tigers
3:08pm Thursday 7th March 2013 in Sport
Haringey Borough suffered a 2-0 defeat at London Tigers on Tuesday night in the South Midlands Premier Division.
The bar saved Boro twice in the first 15 minutes during which the Tigers also sent a free header from a corner well over.
But it was no surprise when Jabir Laraba’s close-range finish provided the lead the hosts deserved ten minutes before the interval.
Haringey had failed to provide home keeper Adam Atour with any serious test throughout the first half.
The introduction of Dewayne Clarke at the interval brought some much needed creativity to their ranks and the second half was a more evenly contested affair, although Boro created few real openings, Emmanuel Ojo did get the ball in the net for the visitors but again from an offside position. Andreas Loizou made a desperate goalline clearance, injuring himself in collision with a post to keep the margin within reach.
But with 15 minutes to go Boro gave the ball away in midfield once too often and their defence was pulled all over the place, allowing Wadah Ahmidi to make the game safe with an accurate low finish which gave Erbil Bozkurt no chance. Haringey turned in a much better performance on Saturday in their 1-1 draw at home to Hanwell Town.
It was a welcome result against a side who had won their previous ten league games.
The hosts took the lead when Anthony McDonald worked space for himself on the right of the penalty area to turn and smash home a shot into the net.
Hanwell levelled the game eight minutes after the restart when Lewis Ochoa’s free-kick was headed home by Bill Healey.
Haringey nearly grabbed a late winner but keeper Charlie Fanner denied Dean Fenton with a superb save.
Boro travel to face Ampthill Town in the league tomorrow.
