Haringey Borough edge to Hillingdon Borough win
4:50pm Thursday 14th March 2013 in Sport
Haringey Borough earned their second win of the week after beating Hillingdon Borough 2-1.
The hosts took the lead in their South Midlands Premier Division game after 17 minutes when Darrell Cox converted his penalty.
Boro doubled their lead after the restart when Anthony McDonald created a chance for himself and fired home from six yards out.
It was their fifth game in a run of 11 matches in 23 days and this began to show as they tired towards the end.
Gary Senior headed the away side back into the contest and it got tougher for the home side when they were reduced to ten men.
Dewayne Clarke was booked for a late tackle and he was ordered off after receiving another yellow card for dissent.
Erbil Bozkurt was forced into a vital late save which ensured Haringey held on for the three points.
Boro thrashed Ampthill Town 4-0 away last weekend but for a long time it did not look on the cards.
The match was goalless for more than an hour before Haringey grabbed the breakthrough 20 minutes from time.
Haringey’s opener came when Dean Fenton broke into the area and placed the ball past goalkeeper Tom Kennard.
Substitute Oleg Semjonovs made it 2-0 when he nodded in Clarke’s flick-on from close range.
McDonald created the third when he sent in a cross which struck a defender and ended up in the net.
McDonald’s hard work finally paid off late on when he fired home from ten yards out.
Boro take on Harefield United at home this weekend.
