London Skolars target home advantage in play-offs

London Skolars will secure home advantage in the play-offs if they win at Oxford in their final game on Sunday.
Victory will ensure Joe Mbu’s side finish third in Co-Operative Championship One.
The Skolars gained a valuable bonus point on Friday night after a 20-14 home defeat to North Wales Crusaders.
The largest crowd of the season at New River were treated to an uncompromising and entertaining game on a very humid night.
London Skolars dominated the opening 20 minutes of the contest. Dave Williams offloaded to James Anthony for the hosts’ first try of the match.
The home side went over the line again soon afterwards after Andy McLean picked up a loose ball from Dylan Skee but it was ruled out due to Tommy Johnson having been tackled in the air.
The Crusaders finally got off the mark after half an hour when Jono Smith pushed his way over the line to give them a narrow lead at half-time.
Leon Brennan went over for the visitors but Skolars regained the lead when Skee breached the defence from close range.
The pressure from the Welsh side told and Crusaders went ahead again when Dave McConnell slipped the ball out for Toby Adamson to score.
Skolars were in a good position when Anthony’s pass to Skee went astray and then a Smith break saw Jonny Walker lose the ball just short of the tryline.
The visitors steadied things with a penalty before the Skolars were penalised for dissent.
The Crusaders edged their way over the line to seal the win but the bonus point leaves Mbu’s side in a decent position heading into the final league game.
