Haringey Borough see off Wembley to earn Wealdstone tie
3:25pm Thursday 19th September 2013 in Sport
Haringey Borough have been drawn away to Wealdstone in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Boro earned the trip to the Ryman Premier Division promotion challengers after a 2-0 win at Wembley last weekend.
It took only two minutes for the visitors to open the scoring when defender Charles Douse headed home Anthony McDonald’s corner.
Tatsuya Fujioka went close for the home side from a 25-yard free-kick but Boro keeper Erbil Bozkurt stopped his effort.
The visitors had decent opportunities to put the game beyond Wembley but Dean Fenton missed a chance while Dewayne Clarke’s strike was superbly saved by Grigoli Zulmatashvili.
Boro sealed the victory in the 73rd minute when another McDonald corner was again headed in by Douse.
Their reward is a trip to face the unbeaten Stones on Saturday, September 28.
Prior to that, Boro are competing in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase this weekend when they host United Counties League side Wellingborough Town.
