Park View boys’ team won the Lee Valley Cup Year Seven inter-schools athletics competition and were presented with their trophy by javelin champion Goldie Sayers.

The Haringey based students raced to victory with 55 points at the final, held at Lee Valley Athletics Centre.

The boys were up against stiff competition from seven other schools in the final, where they had to compete in eight indoor track and field events including sprints, hurdles, relay race, high jump, long jump and shot put.

Lee Valley Athletics Centre Manager, Mick Bond said: “Congratulations to Park View for taking home first place.

“Achieving 55 points is a tremendous result and one that they ought to be proud of.

“The London 2012 effect continues as a record number of schools competed in this year’s Lee Valley Cup, proving that the Games has inspired young people to take up sport.”
