Haringey Borough were left frustrated after a goalless draw at FC Romania in the Essex Senior League.

The home side started in determined fashion with Florin Pelecaci pulling the strings in midfield and Boro keeper Austin Byfield produced the better saves in the first half.

But the visitors felt they should have won a penalty when Dean Fenton appeared to be caught by a defender in front of the goal.

Haringey stepped up a gear after the restart and should have taken advantage by taking all three points.

Home keeper Danut Motoc was regularly forced into action with his best save tipping away a header from Boro.

FC Romania were reduced to ten men for a second bookable offence which only increased the pressure on their goal.

The visitors’ day was summed up in the final minute when Anthony McDonald lifted the ball over the keeper but saw his effort hit the bar. The keeper recovered to claim the ball before McDonald could turn in the rebound attempt.

Despite all their second-half pressure, Haringey were unable to find the breakthrough and had to settle for a point.

Boro host second-placed Enfield 1893 this weekend before facing leaders Great Wakering Rovers in the following game.
